The CS-501SX is a great all-round professional quality 50cc chainsaw. With a very light weight of just 4.7kg, it weighs less than a Husqvarna 550XP, which in our opinion is the class leader and the saw that any other 50cc saw has to match. Whilst not a screaming high-revver like the Husky, and without the technicality of the Autotune rival, it produces excellent power and will withstand the harshest of environments. The 50cc and 60cc pro Echo’s now come fitted with Sugihara bars and Oregon chains as standard.
Echo saws are always a hard sell when compared to Stihl’s and Husqvarna’s. Most professional users tend to stick to a single brand that they trust, and even when the build quality of their favored brand deteriorates, it’s hard to move away from that brand. Echo’s are rapidly gaining a reputation for building excellent professional saws. Led by the class leading top-handled chainsaws, their ground saws are now being appreciated for the build quality and longevity they possess. For any professional users, and certainly farmer/estate users we’d definitely recommend trying one of the Echo ‘pro’ saws, be it the top handled ones, or the 40cc, 50cc or 60cc models in the current range – you won’t be disappointed.
The CS-501SX is a lightweight professional petrol chainsaw, ideal for felling. It features a 50.2cc engine, a guide bar of 45cm (18″) and weighs 4.7kg*
The lightest saw in its class, the CS-501SX has many features appreciated by professionals. These include a starter grip assist cap opener; dropout prevention nuts; a tool-less air filter cover allowing easy air filter access, even when wearing gloves; a side access chain tensioner enabling easy chain adjustment; an anti-icing system preventing the carburettor from freezing in colder months
Domestic / Home owner saws
Averaging 4 hours a month, used for cutting up firewood, pruning trees and the occasional felling or cutting up operation.
Farmer / Land owner
Used for an average of up to 4 hours a week, for all aspects of tree-work and maintenance. Capable of performing all of the operations that a professional saw would be used for, but balancing price against features and longevity. For example, it may be less technologically advanced or slightly heavier than it’s ‘pro’ equivalent.
For the full time forest worker, arborist or tree surgeon. Expected to work in the region of 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. If your livelihood depends on a chainsaw, then these saws are designed for you. Life expectancy will ultimately depend on the conditions that it’s used in, along with the amount of maintenance it receives, but Husqvarna offer a 2-year warranty on all of their professional saws.
