The 236 is Husqvarna’s entry level chainsaw for domestic users. In what seems to be a continual race between Husqvarna and Stihl to produce the cheapest top branded petrol chainsaw, the current race winner is the Husqvarna 236. Obviously, when the goal is low price, certain sacrifices have been made in terms of quality components. Husqvarna don’t release Country of Origin or ‘COO’ information on their ranges, but we believe this saw is one of a couple that are produced in China.
We, at SPG, are very selective, when it comes to deciding what makes and models of equipment to stock. Our reputation stands alongside the quality of the products we sell, which is why you won’t find our shop stacked to the rafters with cheap, low quality, products. But, in this instance, we decided that a budget saw from Husqvarna, with their spare parts backup and support, and a two year warranty, make it a real alternative to, and step up from, saws available from B&Q, Screwfix etc.
Fitted with a 14″ bar & chain as standard, this chainsaw is ideally suited to the very occasional user, who wants to cut up smaller logs for firewood. For more intensive domestic use, please see the other saw options below.
Designed to tackle lighter garden tasks like pruning, felling small trees and for cutting firewood, this domestic chainsaw is perfect for the occasional chainsaw user. Fitted with a Husqvarna 38cc X-Torque petrol chainsaw engine, its unique X-Torque technology improves fuel economy by up to 20% and cuts exhaust emissions up to 75% (when compared to the equivalent Husqvarna petrol chainsaw models without X-Torq). This domestic chainsaw comes fitted with a 14” chainsaw bar and safety chain as standard and is incredibly easy to use. Its ergonomic design and leading engine technology makes this lightweight chainsaw easy to handle and maintain. Unlike many petrol chainsaws the Husqvarna 236 uses a centrifugal air cleaning system that helps prevent saw dust from entering the air filters and clogging, reducing cleaning and maintenance needs and increases engine durability.
Domestic / Home owner saws
Averaging 4 hours a month, used for cutting up firewood, pruning trees and the occasional felling or cutting up operation.
Farmer / Land owner
Used for an average of up to 4 hours a week, for all aspects of tree-work and maintenance. Capable of performing all of the operations that a professional saw would be used for, but balancing price against features and longevity. For example, it may be less technologically advanced or slightly heavier than it’s ‘pro’ equivalent.
For the full time forest worker, arborist or tree surgeon. Expected to work in the region of 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. If your livelihood depends on a chainsaw, then these saws are designed for you. Life expectancy will ultimately depend on the conditions that it’s used in, along with the amount of maintenance it receives, but Husqvarna offer a 2-year warranty on all of their professional saws.
